3D-Printed Mold Components

Stratasys Will Demonstrate a 3D Printing System for Creating Products with up to Three Different Materials in a Single Run

WASHINGTON, DC, U.S.A., October 20, 2015: With eighteen companies already planning to exhibit in the NPE3D™ pavilion at NPE2015, show management has expanded this special section of the show floor dedicated to technology for 3D printing, it was announced today by SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association, which produces the triennial NPE.

NPE2015: The International Plastics Showcase, will take place March 23-27, 2015 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. The NPE3D pavilion will be open to all attendees, providing the opportunity to learn about 3D printing through exhibits and actual demonstrations. A related NPE3D conference track, with six presentations, will be part of SPI’s Business of Plastics Conference, co-located with the show.

One of the highlights of the NPE3D pavilion will be a demonstration by 3D printing specialist Stratasys of its new Objet500 Connex1 multi-material 3D Printer, which can produce parts from three materials in a single production run, allowing users to create assemblies with components formed from three different materials, or components that contain both rigid and flexible materials.

The company will also be highlighting plastics developed for 3D printing. “Materials are the most important component in 3D printing,” said Joe Hiemenz, public affairs manager at Stratasys. “That’s why Stratasys continues to expand our portfolio of thermoplastics and photopolymers, including full color photopolymers.”

Because of the strong response of companies wanting a presence, SPI has added eight more booths to the NPE3D pavilion, noted Brad Williams, SPI’s director of sales and marketing. “From toolmakers to processors to brand owners, many in the plastics industry have a need to know about recent developments in 3D printing,” Williams said. “NPE2015 will provide the marketplace an opportunity to discuss this technology, its current applications, and the future possibilities.”

The companies that have thus far signed on to exhibit in the NPE3D pavilion are:
