Maguire® Blenders, Loaders, Dryers, and Other Systems Save on Material Costs and Enhance Productivity while Meeting Requirements Unique to Wire and Cable

TAMWORTH, STAFFORDSHIRE, UK, March 1, 2016: At Wire Düsseldorf 2016, Maguire Europe will present a wide range of material handling systems that enable wire and cable manufacturers to save costs while complying with the stringent electrical and physical requirements for insulation and jacketing (Hall 10, Stand G52).

“Maguire will display equipment for accurate conveying, loading, drying, blending, and dosing of polymer compounds and additives, along with systems that use real-time data on material consumption to regulate the extrusion process and ensure product consistency,” said Paul Edmondson, managing director of Maguire Europe. “The precision and reliability of these systems makes it possible to save on raw materials, achieve high levels of quality and consistency, and enhance performance on downstream dielectric testing, where failure can result from too much colorant or erratic color dispersion.”

Three of the equipment systems on display at the Maguire stand will be:

---Maguire® weigh scale blender. Maguire invented the gravimetric batch blender in 1989 and this year will ship its 50,000th blender worldwide. The Maguire weigh scale blender controls the metering of materials into the extruder, including compound and costly colorants and additives. Automatically self-adjusting to compensate for variations in extrusion rate or bulk density, the blender maintains accuracy within 0.1%.

---FlexBus™ loading system. This system can operate up to five vacuum pumps and 240 receivers using a single central loading controller. It is easy to install and operate, with intuitive touchscreen controllers, and it provides the capability of expansion as need arises—each pump can be connected to 48 receivers. The FlexBus loading system avoids the guesswork associated with central system conveying and is easy for operators to work with.

---VBD™ vacuum dryer. While the traditional desiccant dryer takes three to four hours to dry resin from a cold start, the VBD dryer takes only 35 minutes and uses 60% less energy. The system incorporates a patented three-stage drying technology. The high-speed, low-stress drying method eliminates material degradation, providing savings in costs, energy, and time.
